Electrical Engineer - Allied Companies is in need of an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for supporting specific electrical engineering tasks involving the Blue Plains Water Treatment Plant.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and provide comment for electrical design documents (calculations, drawings and specifications) prepared by outside consultants in support of NRPM and Client projects for completeness, accuracy, adherence to Client design guidance as well as accepted industry and regulatory standards.
- Development of probable construction cost estimates for projects and tasks assigned to NRPM control;
- Act as an on-site project representative to manage design efforts outside consultants, including monitoring of scope, schedule and budget against NRPM and Client goals and requirements;
- Analyze and recommend appropriate solutions to accommodate variance issues and/or engineering or technological problems and work to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- Exercise of judgment required on details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives; and
- Possesses extensive, progressive technical experience in engineering and requisite skills in multiple discipline areas.
- Independently applies advanced engineering and analyses for problems and methods.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Senior Project Engineer – Urban Stormwater
The Laurel, MD office of AECOM is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Urban Stormwater Engineer. We offer a dynamic atmosphere and career growth opportunities for a senior engineer interested in leading water resources work for a variety of local and regional municipal and federal clients.
The successful candidate will demonstrate at least two years of experience overseeing and coordinating technical aspects of small to mid-size tasks and projects; experience assisting or leading business development pursuits; and technical expertise in at least one of the following service areas:
- Regulatory compliance support services for Maryland NPDES MS4 permit holders (or similar)
- Development of stormwater ordinances, policies, stormwater utilities and other rate structures
- Watershed assessment and restoration
- TMDL implementation planning and reporting
- Urban impervious surface and BMP retrofit assessments and design supervision
- Environmental site design/low impact development planning and design supervision
- Non-point source pollution analyses

Minimum Qualifications:
- Eight or more years of relevant experience in the municipal or federal water resources industry, including at least two years of task management experience and supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation
- Experience coordinating the work of other water resources professionals
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
- Professional certifications are desired

GENERAL SUMMARY: In a team environment, monitors energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) use of all Commission facilities, including water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and support facilities, fleet, employee commuting, solid waste and biosolids disposal; purchases all energy and negotiates all energy contracts for the Commission, manages energy conservation and renewable energy programs, and may supervise energy support staff, such as an Engineer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Centrally monitors, real time power consumption and short term projections to set dynamic operating targets for all facilities; Develops an annual energy management plan (to include all major power users); Identifies energy related issues and concerns, explores solutions, facilitates constructive dialog among internal and external constituents, achieves consensus on solutions to be implemented, and seeks ways to continuously improve energy efficiency of processes; Leads full time staff and/or shared human resources (including Production and Engineering staff) to research, cost justify, and implement projects (including ESP, CIP, and EPC projects) to conserve or reduce energy consumption as well as ensure that all future ESP and CIP projects consider efficient energy usage (e.g. design review); Establishes interagency liaison and coordination; Administers and approves all Commission energy payments; Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering and engineering economics; Comprehensive knowledge of power and natural gas rates structures, financial data, power monitoring and control and process optimization of water treatment/distribution and wastewater collection/treatment; Good knowledge of and ability to provide contract preparation, bidding and management; Knowledge of regulatory violations which may be punishable by federal prosecution; Proficient skill in the use of standard office automation and database software.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Engineering and five years of experience in the areas of plant engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or energy management associated with plant operations and management.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid driver's license with no more than four points and the ability to obtain a WSSC driver’s permit.
